“Barclay Academy is a warm and caring school that wants the very best for all students.  The improvements that we have made make Barclay Academy an excellent choice for your child.  We offer an excellent curriculum, a dedicated staff and wonderful grounds which all combine to make Barclay Academy a great place to be.  If you are interested in choosing Barclay Academy, then please do get in touch and we would be delighted to give you a tour of the school.”

 Key Stage 3 and 4 in-year admissions

Parents or guardians who would like to apply for a place at Barclay Academy at any time other than Year 7, will need to apply using the Hertfordshire County Council in-year online application form. Once an application has been received by the Hertfordshire County Council’s Admissions Team, the council will make a decision as to whether a place can be offered.

If a school has more vacancies than applications, your child will be offered a place. If the school has more applications than places available, admission rules are used to decide the order that applicants are offered places. If we are unable to offer a place, the child’s name will be placed on a waiting list in accordance with the published admissions criteria.

Key Stage 3 and 4 appeals

If it has not been possible to offer your child a place at Barclay Academy, you have the right, by law, to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Although the law allows you to have the opportunity to appeal against admission decisions, it does not give your child the automatic right to a place at a particular school. There is no guarantee that your appeal will be successful, and each case will be decided on its own merits by the independently appointed panel.

Appeals for Barclay Academy are processed by Hertfordshire County Council, and further information about the process can be found on the Hertfordshire County Council’s website.

If you are appealing for Year 6/7 Secondary Transfer, your application outcome letter will include information on the timescale for submitting an appeal.
