SMARTCARDSBarclay School operates a Smart Card system in the dining room. Listed below are important details of the scheme: How it works: Every student receives a Smart Card with their name and unique card number shown. We like to encourage our students to be responsible for their possessions, therefore please ask your child to look after their card. Payment by cheque is preferable for security reasons, but cash will be accepted if necessary. Cheques should cover a minimum one week period, you can send in a cheque for longer periods – a fortnight, a month or per half-term. All cheques should be payable to Hertfordshire County Council. Please help us by writing our school number 106 on the reverse of the cheque together with your child’s name. In calculating how much to spend, please bear in mind the following:
Students on free school meals will have their cards topped up automatically. They can pay in extra money if they wish. If a free school meal student loses/damages his/her card then they are still entitled to the meal of the day and must inform Dining Room staff who will ensure the student receives a meal for that day. They will, however, have to purchase a replacement card. Students who bring packed lunches will also receive a card, therefore they have the option of a breaktime snack or items from the lunch menu. The till operator will advise the student when their card is running low. Students can also ask the till operator what their current balance is. If a student loses/damages his/her card then they should report this immediately to a member of staff in the Dining Room and to me in the Admin Office. Replacement cards cost £3. Any balance on the lost/damaged card can then be transferred to the new card. The times for loading cards with money are in the morning prior to registration or lunchtime.
