DRAMA

Drama is continuing to develop and is an increasingly popular subject within the school.

The aims of the Drama department are:

  • To develop imagination, sensitivity and self confidence.
  • To develop self and group awareness.
  • To encourage trusting and co-operative behaviour.
  • To help students to understand and effectively use basic drama skills and techniques.
  • To enable students to respond with imagination and confidence.
  • To deepen awareness and understanding of a variety of issues through drama strategies.

Drama is taught in mixed ability classes throughout the school.  Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 have one Drama lesson a week.

Drama is an increasingly popular option at GCSE where students are examined in the two papers: the first on practical & documented coursework, and the second on performance.

AS and A level Drama and Theatre Studies is offered to those pupils who wish to continue their involvement with the subject.

There are two full time specialist teachers of Drama.

A Drama Club is run for students.  The Department is involved in presentations and productions, and works closely with Music, Art, English and PE Departments.
